Rebecca Sommi Fisher is a Canadian born Australian screenwriter, who has completed writing her first two feature film scripts, a romantic comedy called ON A SCALE OF ONE TO THOMAS DANDY together with drama/comedy SLOWLY, SLOWLY, CATCH A GUY.
For producers Northern Pictures, Rebecca is currently writing a romantic comedy LOVE IS NOT A VERB which has received development funding from Screen Australia.
Previously, Rebecca worked extensively overseas as a script consultant and script editor for several international production companies. In recent years, Rebecca worked in London, UK, for Prime Focus Productions as the Creative Executive for their television production arm, and as a freelance script consultant for Radical Media. Prior to this, she was the Creative Executive at Infinity Features in Vancouver, Canada, where she worked with William Vince, producer of the Oscar winning film Capote. A few career highlights at Infinity Features include doing script notes for Terry Gilliam on The Imaginarium of Dr. Parnassus (Time Bandits, Brazil, The Adventures of Baron Munchausen, The Fisher King, 12 Monkeys and Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas), a Ryan Gosling directorial project, a project with Oscar nominated writer David Franzoni (Gladiator), script notes on a project for Roger Avary (Pulp Fiction, Reservoir Dogs, True Romance, Killing Zoe) and on Paul McGuigan’s sci-fi feature, Push, (a co-production with Summit Entertainment and Icon Entertainment) where she worked on location in Hong Kong as a script supervisor and story consultant.
After completing a Bachelor of Arts degree at The University of Sydney, and a screenwriting course which she was selected into at The Australian, Film, Television and Radio School, Rebecca began her writing career with the ABC, where she was commissioned to write a comedy series which she co-created.
Rebecca currently resides in Sydney.
