Television/Theatre Writer

Kim Ho is a Chinese-Australian writer. In their work, Kim explores genre subversion, magic realism and stories of cross-cultural encounter. They are a passionate advocate of empowering marginalised voices. Following their win of Sydney Theatre Company’s Patrick White Award in 2018 for their play MIRROR’S EDGE, Kim’s subsequent play BURIED KINGDOM was selected for the 2019 Typhoon Festival, coordinated by Yellow Earth Theatre in London. THE GREAT AUSTRALIAN PLAY, premiered at Theatre Works in St Kilda in February 2020.

Kim co-wrote an episode of THE NEWSREADER with showrunner Michael Lucas for Werner Films, for which they received a 2021 AACTA nomination for Best Screenplay in Television and the 2022 AWGIE Award for Best Television Series.

Kim is currently working on commissions for both Malthouse Theatre and Sydney Theatre Company and has a number of television projects in development, including an original series with SBS Television.

Kim’s 2013 short film, LANGUAGE OF LOVE was in the Official Selection for the Sundance Film Festival YouTube Showcase in 2014.
