Chika Ikogwe is an award-winning Nigerian-Australian writer and graduate of The National Institute of Dramatic Art. Chika is incredibly passionate about diversity and representation, and strives to bring authentic Afrocentric stories to the forefront of Australian stages and screens.
Chika co-wrote THE HOUSE AT BOUNDARY ROAD LIVERPOOL which made its world premiere at The Old 505 Theatre in November of 2019. Chika was the recipient of the 2018 BBM Youth Support Award in Drama, the 2018 Leslie Walford AM Award, winner of ‘Best Newcomer’ at the Sydney Theatre Awards in 2019 and recipient of The 2020 ATYP Rose Byrne Emerging Female Leader in the Arts scholarship.
She has a number of upcoming works in development, including CHIOMA’S PARTY which received development support from Belvoir, television series JUST CHIDI THINGS, with Rose Byrne as executive producer and OGECHI’S SALON, a series supported by Beyond Entertainment.
Chika has worked extensively as an actor, performing in shows such as HEARTBREAK HIGH, FANGIRLS, DANCE NATION, THE WOLVES and NORMAL. Chika made her television debut in the titular role of Mikki in ABC’s MIKKI VS THE WORLD.
