Eddie Perfect’s THE BEAST returns to the stage, this time with Simon Phillips in the director’s chair and Trent Suidgeest on lighting design.
Despite their collective talent, Perfect is happy to have Phillips in charge of such a dark script.
“When you rehearse a comedy, by the end of week two you’ve done the jokes over and over and you don’t find them funny any more.
“That’s fine normally, but with a black comedy all that’s left is that you’re saying horrible things, so you really have to have nerves of steel and faith that when you put it in front of an audience they’re going to laugh.
“Simon Phillips has a buoyancy that can see you through the darkest times. Everyone loves Simon so it’s just going to be very fun.”
